Collagen Induction Therapy · Microneedling
Collagen induction therapy.
Clinical microneedling that triggers your skin’s own collagen and elastin response. For texture, fine lines, scars, and overall skin firmness. Performed by Dr. Cecilia Rusnak in Kissimmee, Florida.

Collagen induction therapy (CIT) — clinical microneedling — uses fine needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin, triggering the body’s natural wound healing cascade. The response includes collagen synthesis, elastin production, and gradual skin remodeling. The result is firmer, smoother, more even-toned skin built from your own biology.

The Procedure
Controlled microchannels. Cascading collagen response.
Dr. Rusnak’s CIT protocol uses medical-grade microneedling devices with calibrated needle depths tuned to your specific concerns and skin type. Fine surface lines and texture issues respond to shallower depths; scars and deeper texture work require greater depth and density. Topical numbing is applied throughout.
Treatment is typically a series of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, allowing time between sessions for the skin to complete each remodeling cycle before the next stimulation. Optional add-ons include PRP, growth factor serums, and post-treatment LED therapy to amplify results.
What to Expect
A series, spaced for remodeling.
Consultation
Skin assessment, treatment depth selection, and protocol customization. We discuss expectations, contraindications, and whether to combine CIT with PRP or other add-ons.
Treatment Sessions
Each session is 60–90 minutes including numbing. Mild redness for 24–48 hours afterward; light flaking can occur during the first week of healing. No significant downtime — most patients return to normal activity the next day.
Series Completion
Most patients reach noticeable results after three sessions, with cumulative improvement continuing for several months after the final session as the remodeling response completes. Maintenance every 6–12 months is optional.
Who This Procedure Serves
For patients targeting texture, firmness, and skin quality.
CIT suits patients with general signs of aging — fine lines, mild laxity, uneven texture, dull tone — as well as patients with specific scars (acne, surgical, traumatic) where texture is the main concern. It’s appropriate across most Fitzpatrick skin types when performed with appropriate depth control.
Not appropriate for patients with active acne, rosacea flares, active skin infections, pregnancy, recent isotretinoin use, certain bleeding disorders, or active immunosuppressive treatment. Patients with darker Fitzpatrick types require careful protocol adjustment to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Frequently Asked
Questions, answered.
How is this different from microneedling at a spa?
Standard cosmetic microneedling uses shorter needles at lower density and targets surface rejuvenation. Clinical CIT uses calibrated depths tuned to your specific concerns — Dr. Rusnak treats it as a paramedical protocol with measurable progression, not a general facial.
Can I add PRP?
Yes — adding PRP (platelet-rich plasma drawn from your blood) significantly amplifies the collagen response. Many patients pair the two for cumulative results.
How soon will I see results?
Initial freshness and surface improvement within a few days. Deeper effects — firmness, texture, scar improvement — build over three to six weeks per session as the collagen response completes. The full benefit of a series is most apparent two to three months after the final session.
Is it painful?
Topical numbing is applied throughout. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild pressure or scratching, not sharp pain. Well-tolerated by the vast majority of patients.
Can it treat acne scars?
Yes, CIT is one of the most effective treatments for acne scars — particularly rolling and boxcar scars. Dr. Rusnak may combine CIT with other approaches (subcision, PRP, or scar camouflage) depending on the specific scar type.
