Advanced ISR · Inkless Stretch Mark Treatment

Inkless stretch mark treatment.

An advanced clinical protocol that breaks down stretch mark tissue and stimulates the skin’s natural remodeling — without depositing pigment. A non-pigment alternative to camouflage tattooing.

Inkless stretch mark tattoo medical procedure at Healing Skin

Advanced ISR (Inkless Scar Revision) applied to stretch marks is an advanced clinical approach that stimulates the skin’s own collagen and elastin response without introducing pigment. It’s the right choice when patients prefer a non-tattoo approach, when stretch marks haven’t fully matured for camouflage, or when texture (not color) is the dominant concern.

The Procedure

Microneedling. No pigment.

Treatment uses calibrated microneedling to create controlled microchannels in the stretch mark tissue. The mechanical disruption triggers the skin’s wound healing cascade — collagen synthesis, elastin production, and gradual tissue remodeling. Over a series of sessions, stretch marks that were once visibly recessed or texturally distinct tend to soften toward the surrounding skin’s surface and tone.

Common treatment areas include abdomen, thighs, hips, breasts, and upper arms. Treatment is typically a series of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Many patients combine inkless ISR with later camouflage tattooing — using ISR first to improve tissue quality, then pigmenting the now-remodeled tissue for cumulative results.

What to Expect

A series of sessions, spaced for healing.

Step 01

Consultation

Evaluation of the stretch marks — their age, color, depth — and assessment of whether inkless ISR is the right approach or whether camouflage would be more appropriate. Some patients benefit from a combined approach.

Approx. 30 minutes
Step 02

Treatment Sessions

Each session is 60–90 minutes with topical numbing applied throughout. Mild redness and slight swelling for 24–48 hours; light flaking during the first week of healing. No significant downtime.

Series of 3–6 sessions
Step 03

Evaluation & Next Steps

Progress is photographed at each session for comparison. Some patients continue improving for several months after the final session as remodeling completes. Optional camouflage tattooing can follow once tissue quality has improved.

Long-term remodeling continues

Who This Procedure Serves

For patients who prefer a non-pigment approach.

Inkless ISR for stretch marks suits patients who don’t want a tattoo-based intervention, patients whose stretch marks haven’t yet matured enough for camouflage tattooing, and patients where texture is the dominant concern over color. It’s particularly useful as a preparatory step before later camouflage work.

Not appropriate for active keloids, very recent stretch marks still in inflammatory phase, or patients with active skin conditions in the treatment area. Pregnant and nursing patients should defer treatment. Dr. Rusnak will assess at consultation.

Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

How is this different from your scar Advanced ISR?

Same underlying technique (advanced inkless technique, no pigment), applied specifically to stretch mark tissue. The depth and density are calibrated to stretch marks, which have different structural characteristics than surgical or trauma scars.

How many sessions will I need?

Three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Some patients see good results at three; others continue to six for cumulative effect. Individual response varies based on stretch mark age and tissue quality.

Can I do this and camouflage tattooing?

Yes — and many patients do. Inkless ISR first improves the tissue quality and reduces texture, then camouflage tattooing addresses the color difference. The two together produce better results than either alone.

Does it hurt?

Topical numbing is applied throughout. Most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure or scratching, well-tolerated.

Is there downtime?

Minimal. The treated area is mildly red and slightly swollen for 24–48 hours; light flaking can happen during the first week. You can return to work the next day.
