Powder Botox microneedling treatment on the forehead at Healing Skin Medical Aesthetics

Powder Botox is Dr. Cecilia Rusnak’s non-injectable approach to softening fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment uses pharmaceutical-grade hyaluronic acid in powder form, delivered through microneedling rather than injection. It is not Botox in the pharmacological sense — there is no botulinum toxin involved. The name reflects the targeted outcome, not the active ingredient.

The Procedure

Hyaluronic acid powder, delivered through microneedling.

Dr. Rusnak developed this technique in clinic to address common wrinkle areas — crow’s feet, forehead lines, the elevens — in patients who didn’t want injections, didn’t want neurotoxin, or wanted a hydration-focused approach in addition to relaxation. Hyaluronic acid powder is applied to the treatment area and pressed into the upper dermis through controlled microneedling.

The mechanism is hydration plus collagen stimulation rather than muscle relaxation. The hyaluronic acid binds water in the treated tissue; the microneedling triggers the skin’s own collagen and elastin response. Results typically last three to six months. The treatment can be repeated as needed.

What to Expect

Half theory, half live procedure.

Step 01

Consultation

Brief evaluation of the areas you’d like treated, your goals, and your skincare history. Dr. Rusnak will confirm Powder Botox is the right fit — or recommend a different option if it isn’t. Same-day treatment is sometimes possible.

Approx. 20 minutes
Step 02

Treatment

Topical numbing applied first. Treatment areas are mapped and the hyaluronic acid powder is layered into the microneedled tissue. Most patients describe the sensation as mild — a pressure sensation more than pain. Total treatment time depends on the number of areas being addressed.

Approx. 45 minutes – 1.5 hours
Step 03

Recovery & Maintenance

Mild redness and pinpoint swelling for 24 hours; full result becomes apparent over two to three weeks as the skin completes its remodeling response. Most patients return for maintenance every three to six months — others, less frequently.

Every 3–6 months as needed

Who This Procedure Serves

For patients who want softening without injection.

Powder Botox suits patients who want visible softening of fine lines without injecting neurotoxin — including individuals who can’t have Botox or Dysport for medical reasons, individuals who simply prefer to avoid injection, and patients looking for a hydration-focused alternative that complements (rather than replaces) their existing skincare routine.

Most appropriate for: dynamic and static fine lines around the eyes (crow’s feet), forehead lines, and the vertical lines between the brows (the elevens). Not appropriate for deep static wrinkles where filler or surgical intervention would be more effective — Dr. Rusnak will tell you honestly at consultation if you’d be better served by a different approach.

Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

Is this actually Botox?

No. The treatment uses pharmaceutical-grade hyaluronic acid powder, not botulinum toxin. The name reflects the targeted outcome — visibly softer lines — not the active ingredient. This distinction matters and we make it explicit during consultation.

How long do results last?

Three to six months for most patients, depending on skin type, skincare routine, and lifestyle factors (sun exposure, hydration, etc.). The treatment can be repeated as often as needed.

Does it hurt?

Topical numbing is applied throughout. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild pressure or scratching rather than sharp pain. The microneedling component is well-tolerated.

What’s the downtime?

Minimal. Mild redness for 24 hours and pinpoint swelling that resolves quickly. You can apply makeup the next day. Full result becomes apparent over two to three weeks.

Can I combine this with other treatments?

Yes. Powder Botox combines well with PRP facials, glycolic acid facials, and other rejuvenation treatments. Dr. Rusnak can build a multi-treatment plan tailored to your goals.
