The 3D Areola Color Restoration Masterclass is Dr. Cecilia Rusnak’s complete proprietary curriculum for licensed practitioners who want to add post-mastectomy areola work to their practice — and 3D areola tattoo technique is one component taught within the method. The class covers pigment chemistry for areola work, dimensional shading and 3D layering, surgeon coordination, and patient consultation flow for breast cancer survivors.

What 3D areola color restoration is.
3D areola color restoration is a paramedical tattooing technique that recreates the color, dimension, and natural detail of the nipple-areola complex. Medical-grade pigments are matched to the patient’s skin tone and layered to suggest depth — the darker center, the soft irregular edge, the subtle features that make an areola read as three-dimensional. It is a clinical procedure, not a cosmetic one.
This is the work you will learn to perform in this masterclass — and it is work Dr. Cecilia Rusnak performs every week as a clinical specialty at Healing Skin Medical Aesthetics. You are not learning a theory; you are learning a procedure from the practitioner who does it. It is used in three settings:
- Post-mastectomy reconstruction. The final stage of breast reconstruction after cancer surgery — restoring the nipple-areola complex once the breast mound has healed.
- Gender-affirming surgery. A recognized finishing step after gender-affirming chest surgery — recreating or refining the areola for transmasculine patients after top surgery, and building areola color and definition for transfeminine patients.
- Correction of previous tattooing. Reworking earlier areola tattoos done elsewhere — neutralizing color that healed wrong, refining shape, and re-pigmenting work that has faded unevenly.

The Curriculum
Three areas of mastery, two days, live models.
3D Areola Techniques
Creating a realistic 3D effect for the nipple-areola complex — depth, darkening, dimensional shading, and natural features like wrinkles and Montgomery glands. Color matching across the full range of skin tones for results that blend seamlessly.
Areola Color Restoration
The specialized technique for restoring natural areola color and correcting tone inconsistencies. Advanced blending and shading to achieve uniform, natural tones — used for both restorative work and correction of prior procedures.
Areola Correction
Correction work for prior areola tattoos — color adjustment, shape refinement, and blending imperfections from earlier procedures. Working effectively with different skin types and post-reconstruction tissue conditions.

Investment
$3,999 tuition. $500 deposit.
A $500 deposit reserves your seat in the masterclass. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the start of class. The deposit is non-refundable but transferable — if your schedule changes, we can move you to a future date in any city.
Financing is available through Cherry, Klarna, and Affirm. Students enrolling in both the Paramedical Tattoo Certification and the 3D Areola Masterclass receive a $250 second-class discount. A $250 travel credit is available to out-of-state students.

The 3D Areola Masterclass is for practitioners ready to take on the most clinically significant work in paramedical tattooing. Students typically arrive having completed the Paramedical Tattoo Certification, or with prior PMU/tattoo experience and a defined plan to work with breast cancer survivors and post-reconstruction patients.
This is high-trust work. The patient population is emotionally complex. The procedure is the final stage of a long medical journey. The course is structured to prepare practitioners not just for the technique itself but for the clinical relationships, documentation, and referral networks that make this kind of practice sustainable.
The Paramedical Tattoo Certification runs Days 1–2.
